★ The cloud app, live, right here

Don't take our word for it. Use it.

This is the actual Oikos Books app, running live in your browser below, not a video, not a mockup. Pick Explore a ready-made sample business to land straight in a running set of books, then type "spent $34 on gas" in the quick-log box on Home and watch it go to the right category, correctly double-entered, after you approve it. Then click ✨ Ask AI in the sidebar and ask "Who owes me money?". Nothing to install and no signup. The demo's books are created and kept in your browser, not on our servers. The two AI steps are the exception: what you type into the quick-log box or Ask AI is sent to our AI provider to be read, exactly as it would be in the real app. Everything else stays on this page.

Everything your business runs on, in plain English

Most owners juggle a clunky accounting program, a spreadsheet, and a shoebox of receipts, then pay someone to untangle it at tax time. Oikos Books is the one place it all lives, in words you already use, doing the real accounting correctly behind the scenes, so you never have to think like a bookkeeper.

No jargon

We translated the accounting into English

Other tools make you learn their language before you can use them. We did the opposite. The accountant's terms still run underneath, perfectly correct, but you only ever see plain words.

"Accounts Receivable"Money customers owe you
"Accounts Payable"Bills you owe
"Debit / Credit journal entry"(you never see one)
"Chart of accounts"Your categories
"Statement of cash flows"Where your money went

Try it yourself

Send an invoice. Watch your books balance.

This is the whole idea: you do the simple thing (bill a customer) and the correct, double-entry accounting happens automatically. You never touch a debit or a credit. Give it a go.

★ Live in Oikos Books Cloud

Just ask. Oikos AI knows your books.

No reports to dig through, no jargon to learn. Say what happened and it's booked, ask a plain question and get a straight answer, with the numbers pulled live from your own ledger, which never leaves your device.

  • "Just spent $34 on gas" → booked to Vehicle & Fuel, one tap to approve
  • "Who still owes me money?"
  • "What did I spend on fuel this quarter?"

Try both in the live demo above → The quick-log box is on Home; ✨ Ask AI is in the sidebar.

Oikos AI

One app. The whole business.

No add-ons to buy, no modules to unlock. It's all in the box, and Cloud adds the online superpowers. See the complete, honest feature list →

Oikos AI Cloud

Type "just spent $34 on gas" and it's booked correctly. Snap a receipt and it's read for you. Ask anything about your numbers.

💸

Get paid online Cloud

Every invoice carries a pay-now link. Customers pay by card; the payment lands in your books by itself.

🏦

Bank feeds Coming soon

Automatic bank connections are on the way. Today, import a statement CSV and it reconciles in seconds, the same way.

🧾

Quote, invoice, get paid. Recurring invoices, credit memos, and printable customer statements come standard.

💳

Expenses & bills

Log what you spent or enter a bill to pay later. Fix a typo with one click, move money between accounts, and every credit card gets its own account.

📊

Reports in English

Profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow: "money in, money out, what's left." Print or export any of them.

🧮

Sales tax & 1099s

Charge tax, pay the state right from the app, and see which contractors need a 1099 at year end.

📦

Inventory

Track what you stock. Selling an item updates your quantity, cost, and profit automatically.

⏱️

Time tracking

Log billable hours as you work, then turn them into an invoice in one click.

🏗️

Job & project costing

Tag income and costs to a job and see, plainly, whether it actually made money.

🎯

Budgets

Set a yearly target for any category and watch how you're tracking, live.

🏛️

Set up for how you're organized

Sole prop, LLC, S-corp, partnership, or nonprofit. Books creates the right accounts for your entity and builds a personal tax checklist for your state.

🗂️

Tax season in 20 minutes

A worksheet with your numbers in the exact order TurboTax asks for them. Read down the list, type them in, done. Your preparer files; we make it easy.

🤝

Business partners, handled

Real capital accounts, draws done right, expenses you covered personally paid back, and a year-end K-1 split to the penny.

↪️

Switch from QuickBooks

Import customers, vendors, your chart, opening balances, even your full general ledger with years of history. Pick up where you left off.

🧑‍💼

Accountant pack

One click bundles your P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, full ledger, and a tax-mapped summary grouped by the lines on your return.

🏷️

Rules that do it for you

Teach it once: "Shell is always Vehicle & Fuel." Anything it still can't place lands in one short review list instead of getting lost.

🏦

Loans, split correctly

Set up a loan once and record the payments. Each one splits itself into interest and principal, so your balance and your expenses are both right.

🔐

Close the month

When a month is done, lock it. Books tells you what's still unfinished first, then closes it so past numbers can't quietly change.

🏢

More than one business

Several businesses on one login and one bill, each with its own books. The second and third are $25 a month, not another $45.

👥

Your team, on one plan Cloud

Invite the people who run the business with you. They work in the same books on the company's subscription.

🔒

Your data, exportable

One click backs up or exports everything, in both Cloud and the desktop app. No lock-in, ever.

⬆️

Updates itself, free

New features arrive quietly in the background. No "upgrade to the new edition," no surprise bill.

Why owners switch to Oikos Books

Everywhere you work

Cloud puts the same books on your laptop, your phone, and your accountant's screen, backed up automatically, always in sync.

The AI does the typing

Say what happened ("just spent $34 on gas"), snap a receipt, or drop in a bank statement. Entries land in the right place by themselves, pre-sorted for you to confirm.

No accounting degree

Plain language everywhere, with a "what's this for?" on anything that could trip you up. Built for the expert in your trade, not in finance.

Correct, invisibly

Real double-entry accounting runs under the hood, so your books always balance, without you ever seeing a debit or a credit.

Bring it in, take it out

Import from QuickBooks to start, export everything anytime. No lock-in, ever.

Own it if you'd rather

The free desktop app is the same product, offline, on your computer, no account. Nobody can ever lock you out of your own numbers.

More than one business?

Run them all on one login and one bill. The first business is $45 a month; a second and third are $25 each, instead of paying full price for every company file.

Your team, not just you

Add the people who run the business with you. They work in the same books on the company's subscription, so nobody buys a second one.

★ For accountants, bookkeepers & firms

One cockpit for your whole book of clients

If you run books for a business with hundreds of employees, or a firm managing dozens of clients, you already know the pain: the software keeps fighting you, your clients complain about theirs, and switching feels impossible. We make switching the easy part. We migrate your data with you, set up your team, and give you one calm cockpit over the whole book, with your brand in front of your clients and the retail price in your hands.

Free cockpit for your book. One dashboard for every client's books. Sign up free, no card, no sales call.
Your brand, your margin. Your logo in front of clients, and you set each client's retail price yourself. Volume seats that get cheaper as your book grows.
We'll still migrate the big ones. Bringing a large book or business across? Our team does it with you, hands-on.

Questions owners ask

Can I try Cloud before I pay for it?

Yes. Every Cloud signup starts with 14 days free. A card is collected when you start, by Stripe, and it is not charged while those 14 days run. Cancel in billing settings before day 14 and you pay nothing at all. If you would rather not hand over a card yet, you do not have to: the live demo needs no account and the free desktop app has no expiry.

Is this a full replacement for the software I use now?

For most small businesses, yes. Invoicing, expenses, sales tax, real reports, and a complete double-entry ledger are all built in, in plain language, without the learning curve. If your books are straightforward, Oikos Books does everything you need.

What does QuickBooks have that Oikos Books doesn't yet?

Two power-user pieces: built-in full-service payroll (today you record runs by hand or import the register file from whichever provider you use, and your books stay perfect; fully built-in payroll is on the roadmap and we will not name a partner or a date until we have one) and advanced inventory (assemblies, FIFO/LIFO). Departments, classes, locations, and project tags are already in. If you rely on something we haven't covered, reach out and we'll tell you exactly where it stands.

Does it do my taxes?

It gets you as close as software legally should. The Tax worksheet puts your numbers in the exact order TurboTax asks for them, mapped to the lines on your return (Schedule C, S-corp, partnership, or nonprofit). The one-click accountant pack bundles everything a preparer needs. Filing the actual return stays with you or your accountant.

Is my data really mine?

Yes, and here is the precise version rather than the reassuring one. On the free desktop app your books are a file on your own computer and we hold no copy. In Cloud they are stored on our infrastructure so they can sync across your devices, which is the whole point of Cloud. Either way, one click exports everything, any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and its books. How we handle your data →

Can I run more than one business?

Yes, on one login and one bill. The first business is $45 a month, a second and third are $25 each. Each keeps its own separate books, chart of accounts, and reports. Most software charges you the full price again for every company file.

Can my team use it, or just me?

Your team. Invite the people who run the business with you and they work in the same Cloud books on the company's subscription, so nobody has to buy a second one. Your accountant is separate again, and free.

What does the AI actually send anywhere?

Only what that feature needs, and only when you invoke it. Asking a question about your numbers keeps your ledger where it is: the AI writes a read-only query and the query runs against your own books, so the rows never go to the AI provider. Quick entry, receipt photos, and categorizing do send the one item you are working on, because that is the thing you are asking it to read. Nothing you have is used to train anyone's model. The Privacy Policy sets it out feature by feature.

Mac and Windows?

Both. One free download for each, and the app keeps itself up to date automatically.

What's the difference between Cloud and the free desktop app?

Same plain English, same correct double-entry books. Cloud adds the connected pieces: your books on every device (install it on your phone), automatic backup with version history, online invoice payments, receipt photos read by AI, your team on one plan, an accountant seat, and Oikos AI. Automatic bank feeds are coming; importing a statement works today. The desktop app is the offline, own-it version, free forever. One honest note: the desktop app ships on its own release train, so the newest features land in Cloud first and reach the download a little later.

Can I try it without installing anything?

Yes, that's the live demo above: the real app with a sample business, right in your browser. No download, no signup. When you're ready, start in the cloud or download the free desktop app.

Can I switch my existing data over?

Yes. Drop in a QuickBooks export and Books works out what the file is on its own: customers, vendors, your chart of accounts, opening balances, and your full general ledger with years of history. It reads the usual CSV as well as Excel, tab-delimited, and IIF files. Then it ties the result out against QuickBooks' own reports, so you can see the numbers landed right instead of taking our word for it. Coming across with no file at all? There's a guided path for entering opening balances by hand.
